Kathleen & Carter – Autumnal Forrest Wedding in Kirkwood, California
If you are planning an outdoor wedding, boy do we have some inspiration for you! Last October, Kathleen and Carter tied the knot in the most breathtaking location. Carter is the consummate outdoorsman and since he and Kathleen have been together, exploring the natural beauty of California has been one of their favorite things to do together. Kathleen knew that it would be essential to find a remote outdoor wedding venue, and the secluded Hideout Lodge just south of Lake Tahoe was the perfect spot!
Beyond finding the perfect location, these two sweethearts planned their wedding to be as intimate and stress-free as possible. They wanted the weekend to be warm and cozy for their closest family and friends.
"We actually chose all of our vendors based on our personal connection with them after our first meeting, and we ended up with a group of the kindest, warmest people you could ever imagine putting on our wedding! I really think that overflowed into the whole vibe of the wedding."
Kathleen and Carter chose our Tall Trees in the Moonlight design for their ketubah, and we love that they did! This design was inspired by a night spent sleeping under the stars in the mountains of Oregon, a landscape very similar to Lake Tahoe. It is truly one of my greatest joys to create artwork that reminds my couples of their love for each other and their adoration of the majesty of nature.
They kicked off the weekend with a casual Game Day on Friday with 10 giant-sized lawn games, complete with hot dogs and burgers grilled by Kathleen's family. The wedding party made breakfast together in the lodge on the morning of the wedding. Carter and Kathleen exchanged their vows in private on the morning of the wedding so that they could look each other in the eyes and say them from the heart, before "performing" them in front of all the guests. They also provided blankets and didn't have a dress code because they wanted everyone to be warm and comfortable.
